0-60 – Grave Digger is one of the most iconic monster trucks in the world.grave digger 0-60 It is also the flagship truck of the popular Monster Jam series of shows that have become a staple for many families during the holidays and school breaks. Grave Digger combines the excitement of traditional racing with the thrill of freestyle. The truck is arguably the most recognizable in the sport and has led to a strong rivalry with Bigfoot.
Dennis Anderson built his first Grave Digger mud bogger in 1982 using parts from salvaged vehicles.grave digger 0-60 The truck was an instant success and convinced him to leave mud racing and pursue monster trucks full time. Anderson's reputation for destructive qualifying passes made him a fan favorite and helped the truck rise to fame. After a brief rivalry with Bigfoot, Grave Digger became the most popular truck in the sport.
In the 1990s, the popularity of the series grew so much that Anderson needed to hire other drivers to help with the schedule of events and races.grave digger 0-60 The team became known for driving hard and often beating Bigfoot at races. Throughout this period, Grave Digger received numerous paint job changes and improvements. One of the most famous was in 1986, when the truck received its now-iconic black graveyard paint scheme.
The team is currently owned by Feld Entertainment, with Anderson still driving and serving as the face of the brand. The trucks are actually serious race and freestyle machines, combining colorful fiberglass bodies with tubular steel spaceframe chassis. Most of the trucks run a Patrick Enterprises, Inc (PEI) or Carrol Racing Design (CRD) chassis. A few of the older trucks run a Paul Cohen chassis.
Currently, there are five Grave Digger trucks competing in the Monster Jam Series. They are numbered from 1 to 45, with the original truck still being used as a display vehicle at Digger's Dungeon.
The first truck, referred to as #2, was originally built as a mud racing truck with a 1950 Chevy panel van body. It was rebuilt in 1989 with a new fiberglass replica body to be a true monster truck. The original body was saved in 1994 and is now on display in Digger's Dungeon. #2 is the oldest truck still in competition.
